10 Reasons To Join the Aquidneck Land Trust Today!

1.     Aquidneck Island has 24,484 acres.  To date 4,422 are protected.  Our opportunity to act will not last forever.  But land conservation does. Conservation Cannot Wait on Aquidneck Island!

2.    Our children and theirs should be able to enjoy open meadows, public trails, clean beaches, unspoiled Bay landscapes, recreational fields, a walk in the woods, milk from Island cows, and fresh local corn. Preserving very special Island places is what the Aquidneck Land Trust does every day... every year... forever.

3.    Aquidneck Island is a jewel of Narragansett Bay.  Land conservation on Aquidneck Island can directly benefit Narragansett Bay by creating land buffers that prevent harmful runoff from reaching the Bay, by affording scenic landscapes to boaters, etc.

4.    Join others who share your concern for Aquidneck Island's environment and open spaces.  Your voice is important ~ Islanders overwhelmingly support open space and environmental bonds.  We all helped to pass $72 million in bond funds for open space ~ across the state, the Island, and in Middletown ~ in November 2004.  United We Stand!

5.    Our drinking water depends on healthy open spaces to buffer Island streams and reservoirs.

6.    We all enjoy fresh Island produce ~ berries, wine, eggs, cheese & milk, herbs and vegetables.  Our working farms require open spaces.

7.     Protecting our Island's open spaces benefits our economy, by keeping Aquidneck Island an attractive tourist destination, by lowering the need for costly infrastructure (roads, schools, etc.) by providing land for open space industries (farming, golf, etc.) , etc.

8.   The Aquidneck Land Trust's diverse community includes soils, waters, plants, animals and people.  We must protect his diversity for our long-term well-being.

9.     Our Island's wildlife need healthy habitats.... the Land Trust's work benefits hermit crabs, northern leopard frogs, honey bees, barn owls, river otters, graceful herons, and piping plovers.

10.    Earn a tax deduction.  Plus, your membership, contributions, and involvement are a great investment.  Increased funding means more memories and special Island places preserved, protected, defended.... forever.
