Tonight is the Night to Stand Up and Be Counted for Conservation!
Come to The Aquidneck Land Trust's 15th Annual Meeting at The Hyatt Regency Newport Hotel and Spa tonight at 6:00 PM (Brenton Hall Conference Room)!
Parking: self-parking at the Hyatt Regency Hotel and Spa Conference Center is free for this event. Valet parking is also available at the main hotel entrance for a fee.
Come and be counted again at the Aquidneck Land Trust's 15th Annual Meeting on Groundhog Day. This year, we expect a turnout greater than ever from the communities of Newport, Middletown and Portsmouth and beyond, as we again unite in support of protecting the precious open space on our Island.
Benjamin Emory will be the featured keynote speaker at the meeting. If the land conservation movement in America had an acknowledged group of "founding fathers," Ben Emory would be counted among them. As a former Executive Director of the Maine Coast Heritage Trust and founding Board Member of the national Land Trust Alliance, Ben offers a unique, long-term perspective of the evolution of the land preservation movement. Ben,s continuing work with many important conservation organizations such as the Blue Hill Heritage Trust, The Conservation Fund and Acadia National Park Advisory Commission is testament to his commitment to preserving New England's and America's natural heritage.
Welcomed by Board Chair Alison Vareika, the evening,s agenda will include a Business Session, overseen by Board Vice Chair, D. Stuart MacNaught, including the election of new and renewing members of the Board of Trustees. The organization,s Annual Report will also be distributed at the event, and there will be several exciting announcements.
