Governor Donald L. Carcieri will join with officials of Aquidneck Land Trust, the City of Newport and the Town of Portsmouth to announce a historic land trust agreement that will permanently conserve some 480 acres of land around the islandıs three public water reservoirs. The agreement concerns the City of Newportıs Lawton Valley Reservoir, Sisson Pond, St Maryıs Pond and all associated buffer lands. These reservoirs serve the communities of Portsmouth, Middletown and Newport.

From the West Bay (Jamestown and Newport Bridges)
- Route 95 South to
- Route 4 South to Route 1 South
- 138 East, Cross the Jamestown and Newport Bridges (toll)
- Straight at light (Union Street, Portsmouth (Potting Shed sign on right hand side of intersection. Take a right into Lawton Valley Water Treatment Plant driveway 2154 W Main Road. NOTE: If youıve passed Raytheon on the left, youıve gone too far.
From the East Bay (Mt. Hope Bridge)
- Cross Mt. Hope Bridge and follow Route 114 South
- After passing the Raytheon complex on the right, take a left into Lawton Valley Water Treatment Plant driveway Lawton Valley Water Treatment Plant driveway 2154 W Main Road.
From Fall River and I-195
- Follow I-195 east to Route 24 South
- Continue on Route 24 South and cross Sakonnet River Bridge
- Follow Route 24 to the end (not taking the Middletown Beaches exit) and merge onto West Main Road (Route 114 South)
- After passing the Raytheon complex on the right, take a left into Lawton Valley Water Treatment Plant driveway Lawton Valley Water Treatment Plant driveway 2154 W Main Road.
