Land Matters Walk & Talk Tour of Albro Woods

On Saturday July 12, the Aquidneck Land Trust ("ALT") is hosting a free "Land Matters Walk & Talk" tour of Albro Woods. Conserved in early 2008 by ALT and the Town of Middletown, Albro Woods is an 8.65-acre wooded parcel that is home to many diverse bird species. While touring the woods, we will also visit two other recently conserved properties, the 33-acre Tibbetts property and the nearby Boulevard Nurseries property. The Boulevard Nurseries property is one of the last remaining scenic open space parcels on East Main Road. In June 2008, the Kempenaar family, the Town and Middletown and ALT signed a Purchase and Sale Contract to conserve 31 acres of this spectacular property. ALT has already launched a major fundraising campaign to support our $500,000 commitment to this project. Together, the Boulevard Nurseries property, the Tibbetts property and the Albro Woods Preserve, which total over 70 acres, form a stunning and scenic gateway to Middletown that can eventually serve as a major open space and recreation complex that the Land Trust and the Town have envisioned.

(Albro Woods)

We will meet at 9am at the entrance to Albro Woods, located on Mitchell's Lane, a short distance south of East Main Road, in Middletown. Sturdy shoes and other appropriate outdoor clothing are strongly recommended as conditions can be rough and wet.

The Land Matters Walk & Talk Series is FREE and Open to the Public. Space is limited and can be reserved by contacting Jessica Pohl at 401-849-2799 x18 or at jpohl@ailt.org.

ALT's mission is to preserve Aquidneck Island's open spaces and natural character for the lasting benefit of our community.  The organization has conserved 1,983.26 acres on Aquidneck Island.  ALT is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.  For more information about ALT, visit www.AquidneckLandTrust.org.

As always, thank you for your continued support
for conservation on our Island.
