The Aquidneck Land Trust Welcomes

Carolyn du Pont as Development Director

The Aquidneck Land Trust is pleased to announce that Carolyn duPont has joined as our new Development Director. Carolyn brings over 25 years of experience in fund raising, marketing and public relations to our team. Most of Carolyn’s career was centered in Washington, DC where she led the development offices of numerous social service agencies and art organizations. In 2004, she resigned her post as Director of Development of the CAMPAIGN FOR TOBACCO FREE KIDS, an international public policy organization, to become the Major Gifts Officer at the Redwood Library in Newport.

She freely admits that her move to Rhode Island was motivated by a desire to be closer to her grandchildren who live in Newport. However, like many newcomers before her, Carolyn has fallen in love with Aquidneck Island and is very excited about the opportunity to use her skills and talents to advance the goals of the Aquidneck Land Trust to ensure a more sustainable future for present and future generations.

The Aquidneck Land Trust's mission is to preserve Aquidneck Island's open spaces and natural character for the lasting benefit of our community.  The Land Trust has conserved a total of over 1,886 acres on Aquidneck Island.  In 2006, the Land Trust conserved over 598 acres, the most acres ever conserved by the Land Trust in a single year since its inception about sixteen years ago.  The Land Trust is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.  For more information, visit www.AquidneckLandTrust.org or call (401) 849-2799.
